Convicted Felon Caught With Assault Rifle In Westchester, Police Say

A convicted felon has been put behind bars after police say he was caught with an assault rifle in Northern Westchester.

Yorktown Police say officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at an East Main Street residence on Sunday, July 7 around 6 p.m.

The on-scene investigation revealed that Michael Mosher, 38, of Yorktown caused more than $1,000 in damages to a flat screen television by throwing it to the ground, police say.

Mosher was also allegedly in possession of the assault rifle with high capacity magazines while having been previously convicted of a felony, according to police.

Mosher was arrested on scene and transported to the Yorktown Police Department, where he was processed and charged with the following:

  • Third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor

An Order of Protection was also issued on the victim’s behalf.

Mosher was remanded to Westchester County Jail and is scheduled to appear at Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, July 11.
